The strength of any herd lies in the genetics of the cow families.
We have applied rigid culling and selection measures to identify cows that raise the big calves, breed back on time and look great doing it. Check out some of our cow families that are working with us at the Ranch 24/7 rain or shine.
GAR Precision 25
Reg: #15129341
GAR Precision 25 was our selection of the 2007 28th annual Gardiner Angus Production Sale. Mark Gardiner commented that “This Precision daughter is out of one of the most beautiful females in our history, GAR 6I6 Rito 71. 71 had the physical attributes of the ideal beef cow, moderate structure, high volume, and perfect udder, we expect Precision 25 to be the same.”
Precision 25 is probably the most refined and elegant cows we have in production on the ranch. 25 is a no frills, low input, beauty queen whose production record speaks for itself. Precision 25 has earned her way into our donor pen by demonstrating ultra predictable and consistent production in drought conditions with no pampering.
GAR 6I6 Rito 71 went on to produce 35 registered offspring ultrasound scanned. 25 has some catching up to do but with these reliable production records she earned her chance.
Lone Star Belle E505
E505 was our selection at the 2006 Texas Angus Breeders Selects Sale from Rodney Howell at Lone Star Angus.
E505 is a flush sister to the dam of the popular Genex sire Lone Star Advantage E753, kind of an unlucky stepsister that got sent here for hard labor. Lone Star Angus cattle are hard working power cattle that raise the bar for the rest of the herd. Plenty of the contemporaries would relax a little if E505 would escape. E505 has several productive daughters in the herd here as well as an Ambush 28 daughter at Howie Riley’s R&R Angus in Clyde, Texas. The power and performance bred into this cow family, through 4 decades of selection at Lone Star Angus, is the standard which Angus should be judged. No maintenance, super fertile, with outstanding feet bone and udder. Look for a future donor daughter by Sitz Upward 307R to be collected this spring.
Clark’s Beauty 5930
Reg: AAA # 137735897
Clarks Beauty 5930 at 12 years in this photo. This cow left behind some of the best daughters on the place which are now following the tradition. Many of the most productive and fertile cows here will have Clarks Beauty 5930 in their pedigree. She was a very feminine and fertile daughter of B/R New Design 323 that never missed on AI and was always a pleasure to work with. Read this article, written by Dr. Jan Bonsma in 1967, on functionally efficient cows and how to select them.
